Redfern Statement Solidarity Breakfast QLD

Tuesday, February 14 @ the Oxfam Brisbane office

On the morning of February 14, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives will meet with members of government in Canberra for a ‘Parliamentary Breakfast’ to discuss the Redfern Statement.

The Redfern Statement was released in June 2016 by peak Indigenous organisations and supported by a coalition of non-Indigenous organisations. The Statement outlined 6 priority areas and recommendations for solving Indigenous disadvantage in Australia, notably through the dual principles of participation and self-determination.

The Oxfam Community of Queensland will be hosting our own breakfast in solidarity with those speaking up in Canberra. We will be meeting to recognise and discuss the issues facing Indigenous Australians, as well as listen to the official breakfast speeches (which will be streamed live from Canberra!)

This breakfast coincides with the launch of Oxfam Australia’s national campaign for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rights, through which we call upon our government to rectify the stark inequalities impacting Australia’s First Peoples.

Breakfast with tea, coffee and juice will be provided, please RSVP via the Facebook Event Page or directly to emilyd@oxfam.org.au

Please join us in solidarity for Indigenous Rights at 7.30 am on Tuesday, February 14!
